Welcome, to my blog. Where you will see the genuine opinion of a teenage aboriginal girl. My blogs will be a range of emotions. Be prepared to cry, laughs, and seriously get frustrated with the world, you may need some sweet grass and chocolate. Many of the subjects can be dark and sad at times, especially when we get into aboriginal history and the modern issue of missing and murdered aboriginal woman.
With the topic of history expect to be sad. It not like the songs ``this land is my land, this land is your land, this land is our land``. Nope. This land was colonized and its people faced mass attempt at genocide (sorry to burst your bubble). I won’t only covering the dark history and issue of north American indigenous people, but will include many other indigenous people, who are often ignored (Australia, the Amazon and other South Americans nations, New Zealand etc..) But not everything that bad or dark happened in the past there are tons of issues that aboriginal youth face today (inhale deeply) such as Stereotypes, miss representation, the ever growing threat of our woman's lives, colonization, injustice and the attempt of mass genocide that continued to be ignored and false apologies. It seems to be a very difficult thing to comprehend that aboriginal people don’t like having their culture mocked or people dressing up like them (Mmm, would have thought). It not honoring our people at all, stop it.
Don’t get too upset
The indigenous people are a part of an amazing culture that unique to each nation. Many different art forms whether it be songs, dances, visual arts, beadwork, different crafts (there more than dream catchers). The traditional clothing. The revival of our language today. Last and not least discover what fry bread is and why we love it so much.
So get ready, because I'M NOT OVER IT!
